Basalt Products & Fibers
We are a leading distributor of continuous basalt fibers and basalt fiber based products in the Central-European and North-African regions.
Economic Advantages
The economic effect of replacing steel rebar with basalt when properly redesigned is about 30%.
Basalt rebar significantly extends the life of the structure, facilitates it, does not require welding, does not require the use of lifting equipment, and has a positive economic effect.
You are saving money on costs of:
- Materials
- Transportation
- Loading and unloading
- Welding services on the site
- Human resources / number of employees

- Dielectric character
- Roving is extremely hard: 8-9 on the Mohs scale (for comparison diamond=10)
Basalt Made Geogrid & Mesh
Geogrid is a reinforcement textile with various mesh sizes. It is a bi-axial mesh woven from multi-filament yarns. For the increased adhesion in concrete, Geogrids are impregnated with an alkaline-resistant coating. This results in the improvement of mechanical properties of concrete and alkaline resistance of Geogrid.
- Stronger than steel wire of comparable size
- By far lighter and easier to handle and install (no nasty cuts)
- Will not rust or corrode or cause cracking of concrete
- Flexible for easier design
- Basalt does not conduct electricity or induce electric fields
- Binds well with both asphalt and concrete
- Many mesh sizes available: 5x5mm, 10x10mm, 25x25mm and 50x50mm coated or uncoated
- Used for reinforcing asphalt-concrete (covering in construction, reconstruction and repair of airport runways, highways and any pavements, pedestrian ways, road inclines and banks)
- The reinforcement with basalt mesh Geo-grid increases the overall reliability, safety and the cutting process output
- The strength of basalt mesh is as good as metal, however it is also 2.6 times lighter, thereby easier transportation and handling
- Reduction of cracks in concrete elements
- Corrosion resistance
- Weatherproof & Natural product
- Improved resistance in an aggressive chemical environment
Basalt Fabrics
The usage of basalt fabrics is an excellent technical solution when customers need mechanical, thermal or other properties that can’t be assured by a fabric of glass fiber. At the same time fabrics made of carbon or special glasses are overpriced for particular application. For sports goods, cosmetic applications and also for automotive industry, important parameter effects of product its attractive golden-brown colour.
Basalt Fabrics are yarns manufactured to varying thickness, weight, weave pattern and weaving technique according to end-use requirements
- Good adhesion characteristics for coatings
- Non-combustible and fire-resistant
- Excellent tensile strength
- Maintains integrity at temperatures up to 1800F/982C
- Resistant to electromagnetic radiation
Basalt Fabrics for high-performance applications from construction to clothing:
- Fire curtains for fire protection and containment (Tested and certified to BS 476)
- Wall laminate to enhance burn-through times to meet building codes and regulations
- Filtration material for industrial emission stacks and bag-houses
- Roof protection from fire devastation
- Fireproof clothing
- Reinforcement in composites
- Electromagnetic shields

Basalt Fiber is Strong
The strength of basalt fiber has 3000-4840 MPa.
Great Price/Value Ratio
Compared to carbon fiber, basalt has a wide range of operating temperatures and a significantly lower price, with close to carbon fiber strengths.
Innovative Potential
The characteristic of basalt fiber gives wild of range to use it in different industrial sectors and developing new and new sphere of usages.
Basalt fiber is a material made similar to glass fiber, but it is composed of the minerals plagioclase, pyroxene, and olivine. It is similar to carbon fiber and fiberglass, having better mechanical properties than fiberglass and is significantly cheaper than carbon fiber. It is used as a fireproof textile in the aerospace and automotive industries and can also be used as a composite to produce a wide variety of products.
- These materials are not widely known.
- Majority of engineers are busy in their routine and the codes that they don’t want to try using something different and new than what’s already used.
- Cost: There are not enough industries producing Basalt Rebars and hence due to low competition they have maintained their prices sky high.
- The bars cannot be bent at site.
Basalt Geo-Mesh offers a number of advantages over metal or glass fiber used for pavement reinforcement:
- Ecologically safe.
- Withstands very high temperature of molten asphalt.
- Very high strength and durability. Alkali-resistant and chemically inert.
- Corrosion-resistant. Will not damage tires if exposed to road surface.
- 2.7 times lighter than metallic mesh, for easier handling and reduced transport costs. Up to 47%> increase in asphalt surface life on roads and highways.
- Basalt Geo-Mesh is also ideal for soil and embankment stabilization and land-fill coverings due to its high strength and environmental and ecological safety.
Fiber is used to strengthen concrete pour and castings Basalt fibers do not chip off and are stronger than fiberglass. Basalt ‘chopped’ fiber is continuous filament cut to predetermined lengths to suit a particular application.
- They are usually coated with a sizing/binder to make them compatible with other materials and elements with which it has to coexist the primary end product (concrete mix, for instance).
- The ability of the basalt fiber to accept sizing is good. This is known as ‘wetout’.
- High tensile strength, Alkali resistant, high thermal resistance.
- No carcinogenic risk or other health hazards.
- Completely inert with no environmental risks.
- Resistant to acids and aggressive chemicals.
- High E modulus resulting in excellent specific tenacity, three times that of steel fiber, good fatigue resistance, electromagnetic resistant.
- Basalt is the best reinforcement for concrete due to its tensile strength and natural resistance to deterioration from alkali.
- Reinforcement for composites, polyester/epoxy resins and plastics as used in automotive body panels, boat hulls and pultruded products, etc.
- Friction materials such as brake pads and linings
- Manufacture of basalt mat/felt
- High-temperature insulation applications
- Passive fire protection materials
- Filler for gypsum and sheetrock board requiring increased ‘burn-thru’ capability, to meet building regulations
- High-performance automotive muffler filler
